Sharing Resources – 5-9:th of April in Stockholm

Promoting a culture of peace is an important aim of SCI. But how do we “do” peace in a limited world? How do we do peace when there is only one chair and two who want to sit? How do we do peace when there is only two minutes left and there are three more who wish to speak? What is peace when it comes to sharing knowledge, information and competence?

This year’s Easter Seminar will focus on sharing resources and peace.

Half of the seminar will be common to all. In this part, we will learn and practice the art of sharing resources (time, space and materials) from a Nonviolent Communication perspective – on a global scale, in our everyday lives, at meetings and when conflicts arise.

The other part of the seminar will focus on how to concretely promote a Culture of Peace in one out of three different roles: Camp leader, Volunteer Coordinator or Trainer. You chose which one of these three tracks you would like to participate in.

Camp Leader Track
How do I prepare to be a camp leader, and how do I Do Peace as a camp leader?
This track is for you who want to prepare to be an SCI camp leader, and will cover e.g.:
- The aim of SCI and work camps in particular.
- Ways of sharing resources and responsibilities within the work camp.
- Group dynamics and cultural meetings.
- What to do before the work camp, during the first days of a work camp and in case of emergencies.

Volunteer Coordination Track
How do we create a sustainable volunteering culture of peace? This track is for you who want to:
- Develop your awareness of the different needs of volunteers with different backgrounds and in different stages of being a volunteer.
- Find ways to meet those needs through facilitated discussions and exercises. How do we for example introduce new volunteers? What makes us go on volunteering, and how could it be even better? How do we give feedback to each other? How do we meet?
- During the seminar develop volunteer coordination tools to use back home.

Learning and Teaching Track
On this track we will elaborate on the issue of sharing resources from a Nonviolent Communication perspective, and practise to teach the topic of Sharing Resources to others. This track is for you who want to:
- Learn and discuss about our common resources: time, space, material and the systems that determines how they are being distributed
- Use the knowledge and skills you learn while taking part in the seminar
- Learn more about how you can lead, teach and share your knowledge with others
- Practice to present, give instructions, introduce a new group etc and receive constructive feedback.

When: 5-9:th of April (during Easter)

Where: Stockholm, Sweden

For whom: We are able to welcome 27 participants to the event, about half of you travelling from abroad. We wish that you as a participants are interested in the topic of sharing resources and want to become a camp leader or want to become or are already a volunteer coordinator or trainer for your SCI branch.

Cost: 400 SEK=45 euro (covering the training, food and accommodation). You also need to be a member of an SCI branch. If you live in Sweden and would like to join IAL, this costs 150 SEK.

Travel reimbursement: A travel reimbursement of 70 % for environmentally friendly means of transport (boat, bus or train) only.

Want to join? Application form can be downloaded from http://ial.se/www/sv/start. You will find it in the right hand column. Send the application form to your SCI branch. Your branch will after selection of 2 applications forward them to IAL (same address as for questions).

International participants will be selected by branches on 1 February, and by IAL on 4 February.
Participants travelling from within Sweden will be selected continuously after 4 February until the seminar is full.
