Intern: HIV and AIDS in Mozambique
The UNODC Mozambique Project Office on HIV & AIDS in Prison Settings is currently accepting applications for a unique internship opportunity in the life sciences.
The internship will focus on project management and administration within the focus area of HIV & AIDS in Mozambique prison settings. This includes assisting the office in compiling basic information, analysing key issues, collating information and documents received from UN/Headquarters/field offices and performing other duties to be assigned by the National Programme Coordinator and other authorities. Additionally, the intern will function as an intra-governmental and intra-agency liaison. The internship will also include selected field work and programme/project activities related to the priority areas of studies and internship of the selected candidate.
Interested candidates must currently pursue or hold an advanced university degree (Master’s or PhD) in the life sciences or equivalent. The individual must have a strong interest in the UN system (preferably in HIV and related fields), fluency in written and spoken English and Portuguese, good knowledge of all essential computer software, and be comfortable with a multi-cultural work environment.
Please note that this internship is non-remunerative and costs connected with an intern’s participation must be borne by the individuals themselves, and these may include (but not limited to) financial and logistical arrangements for own travel, accommodation, etc. Duration of the internship will range from 4 to 6 months and the intern is required to work full-time during the office hours. Time is allowed for outside research work and interviews.
